Opting for the P250 SE adds Pivi Pro, which uses two SIM cards to speed up data transfers so that the system, for example, can update its software without affecting other data-intensive features such as live traffic. In their place is an 11.4-inch curved touchscreen with a new interface called Pivi that Jaguar claims is sharper, faster and more intuitive. Some of the XF’s theatrics have left the stage, such as the power-rising gear selector and power-swiveling air vents. Softer-touch materials, wider seat cushions, a new steering wheel with backlit buttons and open-pore woods are among the highlights. Nearly everything inside the 2021 XF is brand-new. Leather replaces Luxtec (Jaguar’s version of vinyl) and both a power-closing trunk and panoramic moonroof come aboard. To compensate, the XF brings 12-speaker Meridian stereo with SiriusXM, proximity entry, wireless phone charging, 12-way power heated front seats, blind spot warning, surround-view cameras, LED headlamps and active noise cancellation as standard.

Standard interior color choices for the 2021 XF include Ebony, Light Oyster and Caraway. Buyers may be, too, as all of the primary XF competitors–Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series, Audi A6–use powerful six-cylinder engines in addition to their base turbo fours. It is disappointing that Jaguar’s 380-horsepower supercharged 3.0-liter V6 is gone. Both engines use an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the P250 and all-wheel drive is optional. The P250 S and SE have the 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine with 247 horsepower, while the P300 R-Dynamic SE has a higher tune of the same engine with 296 horsepower and standard all-wheel drive. Prices start at $43,995, a $7,105 drop from the 2020 model, and fewer trims are on offer. The empty slot left by the entry-level XE leaves Jaguar an opportunity to play up the XF’s value. It’s also ditching the Sportbrake wagon variant. With the compact XE and full-size XJ sedans bowing out for 2020-an all-new XJ is debuting soon as an all-electric flagship-the XF continues into 2021 with only four-cylinder engines. To boost the midsize sedan’s appeal, the XF takes center stage with lower prices, more standard equipment and a remade interior with all-new infotainment software. Demand for Jaguar’s three sedans has waned since the British automaker introduced a trio of new crossovers over the last four years. Jaguar‘s revamped 2021 XF sedan is the only one left of its kind in the automaker’s SUV-heavy lineup. The XF sedan continues with a mild update for 2021, but its sleek Sportbrake wagon variant is discontinued for the U.S.
